- Tipping
- Dress code
To tip or not to tip in Vietnam? The short answer is: tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. There are no strict rules when it comes to tipping in Vietnam, and how much you tip largely depends on the situation and your personal preference.
In restaurants, rounding up the bill or leaving a small amount of cash (10,000–50,000 VND) as a tip is a kind gesture. In hotels, it's common to tip porters or housekeeping staff if you're satisfied with their service. For taxis or ride-hailing apps like Grab, tipping is not expected but can be a nice way to show appreciation.
While tipping isn’t part of traditional Vietnamese culture, service staff are generally grateful for any extra you choose to give — and you'll often receive excellent service regardless.
