Bao Da Communal House Festival

According to tradition, on the 1st day of the first lunar month, the communal house is ceremonially opened. On the 2nd day, the ceremonial officiant is escorted from his home to the communal house. On the 3rd day, a communal offering and village feast are held, during which the Minh Van palanquin and Bat Cong offerings are paraded. On the 5th day, a thanksgiving ceremony is conducted and the communal house is closed. The thanksgiving ceremony involves the officiant and the temple keeper. The offering includes a tray of sticky rice and chicken prepared by the temple keeper. On the same day, the officiant also hosts a feast for the villagers.

During the festive day, Xoan singing is performed (according to the elders, it is called Xoan singing, but based on the lyrics and format, it is actually Vi singing — a form of antiphonal love duet). The singing is held between the young men of Lau Thuong village and the young women of Bao Da village.
